I just have to share this with you...

The wonderful guys at A Bryan Photo are known for capturing beautiful photos and videos and documenting the big moments in love and life. Recently, they had another pretty incredible idea- Homemade Films. This kit allows people to personally film important and exciting events that you wouldn't normally have professionally documented, and A Bryan processes and edits the raw film into pure awesomeness that you will watch over and over again until you're old and gray.
So for, say, your honeymoon or a big trip, they'll send you an 8mm video camera, film, and still cameras for you to use. When you're finished, you send it all back and in a few weeks they send your memories tied up in a bow and seemingly sprinkled with magic dust- once you see your video you won't be able to stop smiling for weeks.

We also used this for our honeymoon and- aside from getting married- it was the best decision we've ever made.
So if you've got a big moment coming up, give them a shout. Aside from being supremely talented, they're also some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

Can you guess what Leah, Vanessa, Tracy & Melissa are studying? I'll give you a hint- they'll be rolling in apples! How many of you guessed apple farmers?? Cause if you did, we may need to have a talk. Teachers! They're all going to be teachers!
Actually, since they're going to be teachers, perhaps they should be talking to anyone who guessed apple farmers.

Day 68
I had a shoot this morning and, even though I was bundled up in scarf, long johns, coat and sweater, it was beautiful and sunny out with the faint promise of spring in the air. Laelia (who has hippie roots and is obvs more in tune with the seasons that I) was dead set on a spring shoot.
"But Laelia," I reasoned, "it's brown and gritty and snowy everywhere. Where is the colour of spring?"
"Who cares?" said she. "We'll buy some flowers and jump in puddles."
Realizing I had been beaten, we turned down the street towards the nearest flower shop. We didn't make it far before spring started to jump out at us. There was colour everywhere! It didn't need to be in the grass or on the trees- it was on the houses and the cars and the trains. Soon, everywhere we looked had colour!
So, unofficially of course, happy spring!

Friends, I have news. Big news. You are probably already aware that in mere weeks the dear husband and I will be moving to Vancouver. We are beyond thrilled, but I won't pretend that I haven't had been a bit of a sentimental, misty-eyed mess about leaving Calgary. For years we've called this city home, haunted our favourite coffee shops and built an amazing network of friends.
And so, to show our appreciation to the people and city that have made this chapter of our lives so wonderful, we're giving away a photo shoot! The winner will receive a 2 hour session shot with film, polaroid and digital, on location in Calgary. The prize also includes 10 edited proofs, and 2- 8x8 or 4- 5x5 prints. Anyone can enter- use it to record this stage of your own life, an anniversary (whether you've known each other for 30 years or 30 minutes), or to celebrate your best friends.
